Hello, friends! Whether you're a returning customer or you recently found us, we're so glad you're here. I have to admit, transitioning to our own website and shop was pretty scary, but over the last year and a half, you all have shown us so much love and support, we knew it was the right move.
Since this is a new adventure, I want to reintroduce myself.
I'm Jen. I'm the calligrapher, designer, and blogger behind this little business. That awesome guy beside me is my fiance, Kaison. He's the business, sales, and logistical left brain that balances my creative right brain.
Together, we run Home Brewed and Company out of our West Virginia home.
Where we started
In 2015, I started making calligraphy items and selling them on Instagram as a hobby while in grad school. I set up a folding table in the back of our garage and would spend my nights and weekends huddled next to a small heater lettering on mugs, signs, globes, coasters, and just about anything I could get my hands on. To my surprise, people really responded to the items I was creating, and I enjoyed bringing others inspiration and happiness through my talents.
It grew quickly and became much more than I could handle on my own. Kaison started helping me in the areas I wasn't very good at: the administrative work, packaging and shipping, keeping track of inventory, etc. Needless to say, this business would not even be here if it weren't for him stepping up.

Where we are now
Fast forward to now -- we moved into our first home and converted a spare bedroom into our office and studio space. Talk about an upgrade! We also were taking on every project that came our way, which turned out to be a not so good thing. We were burnt out and drained. We were trying to juggle our full-time careers, this growing business, wedding planning, renovating our first home, and keeping our relationship + social lives strong, but we were failing miserably. Over our holiday break, we sat down to brainstorm how we could get our focus back and create the things we really love while making it work for us and still helping the customers we've grown to adore.
This turned out to be no easy task.
Where we're going
What we came up with was to put our efforts into this new website that highlights our hand lettered products and aligns with our vision. Mugs are how we started, so keeping them around was a no-brainer. Apparel has become our best-selling product (and we love seeing you out wearing them -- really, we do happy dances), so of course, we kept that too. However, in order for us to continue to grow while maintaining a healthy work/life balance, we had to reevaluate our approach and make some difficult decisions. We decided to put a hold on lettering services. I've grown to love hosting workshops to teach others how to letter in calligraphy, so we kept it. However, we are making a few changes to them to better work for us and you! We'll also offer select items every now and then, but our custom offerings are going to be fewer.
In addition to these changes, we've created some items that serve a deeper purpose. The proceeds of two of our new items (and potentially more in the future) go toward educating girls around the world. This is a mission near and dear to my heart, so I hope you'll join me in creating a better tomorrow.
We love you all and wanted to continue the work God set us out to do. When the going got hard, we didn't want to quit on you. We hope you continue to support our dreams, and as long as you let us, we'll continue to lift you up.
Have fun exploring the website and be sure to check out our new hand lettered items. Thank you all so so much!
